Job Description
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Chief Engineer to take full responsibility for the management, maintenance, and operation of the vessel’s engineering systems during its relocation. This is a critical leadership role that requires technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to swiftly resolve any technical issues that may arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all engineering operations and ensure the vessel’s mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary systems are fully operational.
- Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks across all engineering systems.
- Supervise and support any engineering crew or contractors, including Second Engineers or assistants.
- Maintain and update technical documentation, engineering logs, and regulatory compliance records.
- Conduct comprehensive safety inspections of all critical systems prior to departure and throughout the voyage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted vessel performance.
- Liaise with the captain and other departments to coordinate safe and efficient vessel operations.
Requirements:
- Valid STCW Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (unlimited or appropriate for vessel class).
- Valid ENG1 Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior engineering role, with at least 2 years as Chief Engineer.
- Proven track record of managing vessel engineering systems during active operations or relocation.
- Clean criminal record (background check required).
- Ability to mobilise to the South East England region within 3 hours of alert.
