The Opportunity
ANT Recruitment is supporting a specialist light-aircraft maintenance organisation seeking an experienced B1.2 Licensed Aircraft Engineer / Mechanic to join its engineering team in Swindon.
This is a hands-on position working within a professional general-aviation maintenance environment. You will maintain, inspect, troubleshoot and repair light piston-engine aircraft, including commonly operated Cessna, Piper and similar fixed-wing platforms.
The position would suit a practical and self-motivated engineer who understands the standards required within light-aircraft maintenance and can confidently take responsibility for aircraft from initial inspection through to completion and release to service.
The Role
You will carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance across a varied fleet of light piston-engine aircraft.
Working closely with the wider maintenance team, you will diagnose mechanical and electrical defects, complete repairs and component replacements, and ensure all work is recorded accurately and completed in accordance with approved maintenance data and regulatory requirements.
Depending on your licence coverage, experience and company authorisation, you will also certify completed maintenance and issue Certificates of Release to Service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on light piston-engine aeroplanes
- Completing annual, 50-hour, 100-hour and other scheduled inspections
- Inspecting aircraft structures, engines, mechanical systems and electrical systems
- Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults
- Removing, inspecting, repairing and replacing aircraft components
- Carrying out engine, airframe and general mechanical maintenance
- Completing modifications, repairs and defect rectification
- Conducting functional and operational checks
- Recording all completed work accurately within aircraft technical records
- Working in accordance with approved maintenance data, company procedures and UK CAA requirements
- Supporting aircraft recovery and maintenance activities when required
- Certifying completed work within the scope of your licence and company authorisation
Essential Requirements
- A current UK CAA Part-66 B1.2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence
- Demonstrable experience maintaining piston-engine aeroplanes
- Practical experience within general aviation or light-aircraft maintenance
- Strong fault-finding and defect-rectification capability
- Experience working on aircraft structures, engines, mechanical and electrical systems
- Good understanding of maintenance documentation and technical records
- Ability to interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins and approved technical data
- High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
Desirable Experience
Experience working on aircraft such as Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, Cirrus, Diamond, Robin or similar general-aviation platforms would be beneficial.
Experience within a UK Part-CAO or Part-145 maintenance organisation, together with relevant aircraft group or type ratings, would also be advantageous.
