Location: Swindon
Sector: Aviation
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on licence coverage and experience

The Opportunity

ANT Recruitment is supporting a specialist light-aircraft maintenance organisation seeking an experienced B2 Licensed Aircraft Engineer / Avionics Mechanic to join its engineering team in Swindon.

This is a hands-on avionics position supporting the inspection, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair and installation of electrical and avionics systems across a varied fleet of light general-aviation aircraft.

You will work on piston-engine aeroplanes, including commonly operated Cessna, Piper and similar fixed-wing platforms, supporting both routine maintenance and more complex avionics troubleshooting and upgrade projects.

The position would suit a technically capable engineer who can work methodically, interpret wiring and system documentation, and take ownership of avionics and electrical defects through to final testing and certification.

The Role

You will carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft avionics and electrical systems.

The work will include fault diagnosis, wiring repairs, equipment replacement, system testing and the installation or upgrade of communication, navigation, surveillance, instrumentation and other cockpit systems.

Depending on your licence coverage, aircraft ratings and company authorisation, you will certify completed avionics and electrical maintenance within the scope of your privileges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining, inspecting and troubleshooting aircraft avionics and electrical systems
  • Diagnosing electrical, instrumentation and avionics faults
  • Carrying out wiring inspections, continuity checks and electrical testing
  • Repairing and replacing wiring, connectors, switches, relays and electrical components
  • Removing, installing and testing avionics equipment
  • Supporting avionics installations, modifications and system upgrades
  • Working on communication, navigation, surveillance and cockpit instrumentation systems
  • Carrying out functional and operational tests following maintenance
  • Interpreting wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals and approved technical data
  • Completing scheduled maintenance and defect rectification
  • Recording completed work accurately within aircraft technical records
  • Working in accordance with company procedures and UK CAA requirements
  • Certifying completed work within the scope of your licence and company authorisation
  • Supporting mechanical engineers where electrical or avionics input is required

Essential Requirements

  • A current UK CAA Part-66 B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence
  • Demonstrable experience maintaining aircraft avionics and electrical systems
  • Strong electrical and avionics fault-finding capability
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft wiring diagrams and technical manuals
  • Experience using electrical and avionics test equipment
  • Knowledge of aircraft communication, navigation, instrumentation and electrical systems
  • Accurate technical-record and maintenance-documentation skills
  • High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom

Desirable Experience

Experience working within general aviation or on light aircraft such as Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, Cirrus, Diamond, Robin or similar platforms would be beneficial.

Previous involvement in avionics installations, cockpit upgrades, radio and navigation equipment, transponders, instrumentation, autopilot systems or modern glass-cockpit systems would also be advantageous.

Experience within a UK Part-CAO or Part-145 maintenance organisation, together with relevant aircraft ratings and certifying-staff authorisations, is desirable.

What Is on Offer

You will join an established light-aircraft maintenance business providing maintenance, avionics, repair, aircraft-management and technical-support services to private owners and general-aviation operators.

The role offers varied technical work across multiple aircraft and avionics platforms, with the opportunity to contribute to both routine maintenance and specialist installation or upgrade projects.

Apply

To apply, submit your current CV and details of your UK CAA Part-66 licence, aircraft ratings, authorisations and recent avionics-maintenance experience.
