The Opportunity
ANT Recruitment is supporting a growing multidisciplinary services organisation in the appointment of an experienced Electrician.
The organisation provides integrated electrical, HVAC, construction and mechanical services to residential and commercial customers.
This is a practical, hands-on position involving electrical installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair work across a range of properties and projects.
The successful candidate will be expected to complete work safely, efficiently and to a high professional standard while providing dependable service to customers.
You will work alongside the wider electrical, construction and technical teams, supporting both standalone electrical assignments and larger projects involving several trades.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, fixtures and associated systems.
- Completing electrical installations across residential and commercial properties.
- Diagnosing electrical faults and determining appropriate repair solutions.
- Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance.
- Inspecting electrical systems and components to identify defects, damage or safety concerns.
- Installing lighting, switches, sockets, distribution equipment and electrical controls.
- Testing electrical installations and equipment following installation or repair.
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, specifications and work instructions.
- Ensuring electrical work is completed in accordance with applicable regulations, safety standards and company procedures.
- Identifying the tools, parts and materials required to complete each assignment.
- Coordinating with construction, HVAC and mechanical colleagues on integrated projects.
- Providing clear updates regarding job progress, defects and additional work requirements.
- Maintaining accurate service, inspection and maintenance records.
- Communicating professionally with customers while working in occupied homes or business premises.
- Keeping tools, equipment, vehicles and work areas clean, organised and secure.
- Responding to urgent electrical faults or service requirements where operationally necessary.
- Supporting less experienced electrical team members when required.
- Completing additional technical duties appropriate to the position.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a dependable and technically capable Electrician who can work safely across varied residential, commercial and project environments.
You should have:
- Recognised electrical training, apprenticeship or trade certification.
- Relevant experience working as an Electrician, Electrical Technician or Electrical Maintenance Technician.
- Practical experience completing electrical installations, repairs and maintenance.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
- Experience working within residential or commercial properties.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
- A sound understanding of electrical safety procedures and safe isolation practices.
- The ability to inspect and test electrical installations and equipment.
- Good knowledge of hand tools, power tools and electrical testing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to completing work correctly.
- The ability to identify required parts and materials before beginning work.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- A professional manner when dealing with customers.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to work independently and use sound technical judgement.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to electrical problems.
- The physical ability to complete installation and maintenance duties, including working at height where required.
- A valid driving licence.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary property maintenance, construction or facilities-services organisation would be advantageous.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that their qualifications and practical experience are suitable for any locally required electrical licensing or certification process.
Working Conditions
The position will involve travel between residential, commercial and project sites.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working in occupied properties, active construction environments, plant areas and external locations.
Some assignments may involve working at height, in confined spaces or around live operational environments.
Occasional evening, weekend or emergency work may be required depending on customer and operational needs.
