Heavy Equipment Mechanic
The Opportunity
ANT Recruitment is supporting a growing specialist machinery maintenance and repair company seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to relocate to the Caribbean.
You will work alongside a highly qualified master technician, maintaining and repairing a varied range of construction, plant and heavy equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable mechanic who enjoys diagnosing complex faults, working across different manufacturers and taking ownership of repairs.
The business is experiencing strong customer demand and is expanding its technical capability. Additional paid hours are expected to be available, although the standard hours, hourly rate and overtime structure remain to be confirmed.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, diagnose and repair construction, plant and heavy equipment.
- Work on excavators, telehandlers, bulldozers, payloaders, track loaders and other specialist machinery.
- Diagnose faults involving diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, drivetrains and electrical systems.
- Use diagnostic equipment and technical information to identify the root cause of faults.
- Complete preventative maintenance, servicing and equipment inspections.
- Attend workshop-based and field breakdowns.
- Complete repairs efficiently while minimising equipment downtime.
- Record completed work, parts used and further repair recommendations.
- Support warranty and servicing activity involving new and used machinery.
- Maintain high health, safety and workmanship standards.
Essential Requirements
- A recognised mechanical qualification or substantial manufacturer-backed technical training.
- Strong experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, plant machinery, agricultural equipment, heavy vehicles or comparable machinery.
- Practical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions and mechanical fault-finding.
- Experience using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work safely and independently.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to relocate to the Caribbean and complete the applicable work-permit process.
- Flexibility to work additional paid hours when operationally required.
Desirable Experience
- Caterpillar, JCB, Komatsu or comparable manufacturer experience.
- Manufacturer certification, dealership experience or advanced diagnostic training.
- Field service or mobile repair experience.
- Former REME or comparable military engineering experience.
- Experience with parts identification, workshop support or warranty repairs.
- A full driving licence.
Candidates without a current full driving licence may still be considered if they are able to obtain the appropriate local licence following appointment.

Package and Relocation
The hourly pay rate, standard working hours and overtime structure are to be confirmed.
Overseas applicants will require the appropriate permission to work in the destination country. Any appointment will be subject to client approval, satisfactory checks and successful completion of the applicable work-permit process.
