The Opportunity

ANT Recruitment is supporting a growing multidisciplinary services organisation in the appointment of an experienced HVAC Technician.

The organisation provides integrated air-conditioning, electrical, construction and mechanical services to residential and commercial customers across the Caribbean.

This is a hands-on technical position involving the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of air-conditioning and associated HVAC systems.

The successful candidate will help ensure systems operate reliably, efficiently and consistently within a warm and demanding climate.

You will work independently and alongside electrical, construction and mechanical colleagues, supporting both routine service assignments and larger integrated property projects.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Installing residential and commercial air-conditioning systems.
  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing air-conditioning and HVAC equipment.
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and control-related system faults.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
  • Responding to reactive service and breakdown requirements.
  • Inspecting systems to identify defective, worn or inefficient components.
  • Testing system performance following installation, servicing or repair.
  • Checking refrigerant pressures, temperatures, airflow and electrical operation.
  • Identifying refrigerant leaks and completing appropriate repairs.
  • Recovering, evacuating, charging and commissioning refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
  • Cleaning and replacing filters, coils, drains and other serviceable components.
  • Repairing or replacing compressors, motors, fans, pumps, controls, thermostats and associated equipment.
  • Installing pipework, drainage, electrical connections and system controls.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, service manuals and manufacturer specifications.
  • Recommending repairs, replacement equipment or energy-efficiency improvements where appropriate.
  • Ensuring systems are installed and maintained for reliable and long-lasting performance.
  • Coordinating with electricians, construction teams and other trades on integrated projects.
  • Maintaining accurate service reports, maintenance records and parts information.
  • Providing customers with clear information regarding system condition, operation and maintenance.
  • Maintaining tools, test equipment, vehicles and work areas in a safe and organised condition.
  • Following company procedures, environmental requirements and health and safety standards.
  • Responding to urgent breakdowns or call-outs where required.
  • Completing additional technical and operational duties appropriate to the position.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused HVAC Technician with strong practical experience in air-conditioning installation, servicing and fault diagnosis.

You should have:

  • Recognised technical training or trade certification in HVAC, air conditioning, refrigeration or a related discipline.
  • Relevant hands-on experience as an HVAC Technician, Air-Conditioning Technician or Refrigeration Technician.
  • Experience installing, servicing and repairing residential or commercial air-conditioning systems.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical controls and airflow principles.
  • Experience using HVAC gauges, vacuum pumps, recovery equipment, multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
  • The ability to recover, evacuate, charge and commission systems safely.
  • Experience identifying and repairing refrigerant leaks.
  • Knowledge of compressors, motors, fans, coils, pumps, thermostats and control systems.
  • The ability to read wiring diagrams, technical drawings and manufacturer documentation.
  • A strong understanding of planned preventative maintenance.
  • An awareness of energy efficiency and system performance requirements.
  • Good knowledge of safe refrigerant-handling practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • The ability to identify parts, materials and tools required for each assignment.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • The physical ability to complete installation and maintenance work, including lifting equipment and working at height.
  • A valid driving licence.

Experience working with split systems, ductless mini-splits, packaged units, heat pumps or commercial air-conditioning equipment would be advantageous.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that their qualifications and experience are suitable for any locally required HVAC, refrigeration or refrigerant-handling certification process.

Working Conditions

The position will involve regular travel between residential, commercial and project sites.

Work may be completed indoors, outdoors, on rooftops, within plant areas or in confined service locations.

The role will involve exposure to warm weather, mechanical equipment, refrigerants and electrical components.

Occasional evening, weekend or emergency call-out work may be required depending on customer and operational needs.
