The Opportunity

ANT Recruitment is supporting an established and growing Caribbean-based organisation in the appointment of an experienced Welder Fabricator.

This is a hands-on role involving the cutting, shaping, joining and repair of metal components and structures across workshop and project-site environments.

The successful candidate will be confident working from technical drawings, selecting the correct welding methods and producing accurate, high-quality work across a range of fabrication tasks.

You will work closely with the Director of Operations and wider project team to ensure all welding and fabrication work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, technical documents and measurements.
  • Planning layouts, fabrication processes and welding procedures.
  • Selecting the appropriate welding equipment and method for each task.
  • Setting up components in line with drawings and specifications.
  • Cutting materials to size using powered saws and other appropriate tools.
  • Preparing metal surfaces using grinders and related equipment.
  • Aligning, measuring and clamping components before welding.
  • Welding components using manual or semi-automatic equipment.
  • Completing welds in vertical, horizontal, overhead and other required positions.
  • Carrying out MIG and TIG welding across a range of fabrication tasks.
  • Repairing machinery, structures and metal components by welding and filling damaged areas.
  • Inspecting welded surfaces and completed structures for defects or flaws.
  • Completing grinding, finishing and general metal-fabrication work.
  • Maintaining welding equipment, tools and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Following company procedures, technical specifications and relevant safety standards.
  • Using the required protective clothing and equipment at all times.
  • Supporting additional fabrication, maintenance and project duties when required.
  • Working additional hours where necessary to meet operational or project requirements.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a skilled and dependable Welder Fabricator who can produce accurate work while maintaining strong safety and quality standards.

You should have:

  • Proven experience working as a Welder, Fabricator or Welder Fabricator.
  • Practical experience with MIG and TIG welding.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, grinding and metal finishing.
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience taking accurate measurements and preparing fabrication layouts.
  • Confidence using electrical and manual tools, including saws, grinders, squares, rulers and calipers.
  • The ability to select the correct welding method and equipment for each task.
  • Experience welding in vertical, horizontal and overhead positions.
  • The ability to inspect completed welds and identify defects.
  • Good knowledge of welding and workshop safety standards.
  • A willingness to use all required personal protective equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and manual dexterity.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • A mature, self-motivated and dependable approach to work.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • The flexibility to work additional hours when required.

A recognised 6G welding certification would be advantageous.

Working Conditions

This is a six-month contract involving work across workshop, construction, industrial and project-site environments within the Caribbean.

The position will involve manual handling, standing for extended periods, working around hot materials and machinery, and completing tasks in varying site and weather conditions.

The successful candidate must be comfortable using welding equipment, power tools and protective clothing for extended periods.
